This was one my father-in-law's favorites. We had to watch him like a hawk when I made these cookies as he never knew when to stop.

Beat butter until creamy. Add sugar. Beat until pale yellow. Add syrup, vanilla and egg yolk. Mix in flour. Fold in pecans. Roll into logs using plastic wrap. Let logs harden at least 2 hours in the refrigerator. Slice cookies ½ inch thickness. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
